Vladimir Putin said last year that the ice cream was “the most delicious” in Russia; there is a chance now that the president will be able to have a treat on his overseas visits.

The company that made the ice cream praised by Vladimir Putin will build a facility to sell its products abroad.

Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan bonded over cold delicacies as they were taking in the sights of the MAKS-2019 air show in Moscow in late August. Putin opted for ‘Cow from Korenovka’ ice cream but recommended another brand to Erdogan.

Speaking to farmers in March 2018, Putin admitted that this is the most delicious ice cream in Russia. The Russian president was also seen treating Russian officials to ‘Cow from Korenovka’ when visiting the MAKS air show in 2017.

This brand of ice cream is produced at Korenovsky Milk Processing Plant in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar. Andrei Korobka, the region’s deputy governor, said that the plant now has the global market in sights.

According to the official, local authorities plan to boost the region’s export to $3.8 billion as part of the national project ‘International cooperation and export.’

The ice cream is perhaps the most recognisable but not the only delicacy the plant offers: it also makes milk, cheese, yogurt, quark, cream, condensed milk, sour cream and other dairy products. The company’s revenue reportedly jumped by 14.9 percent last year and totalled 16.99 billion roubles (over $260 million).

Korenovsky Plant makes part of Renna, a trade and manufacturing holding. It became the second-biggest ice cream producer in Russia in 2017, pushing a joint venture of Nestle and R&R into third place, and is currently only trailing behind the Anglo-Dutch firm Unilever.

Korenovsky Plant closely cooperates with the Russian Export Centre, a government agency that works to improve the recognition of domestic brands and products due to participation in oveseas trade missions and expos via the ‘Made in Russia’ programme.

There has been no immediate word on where the plant will be selling its products, but according to Renna’s website, the holding is operating in 28 countries, including former Soviet republics, the European Union, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Mongolia and Afghanistan.
